Description
Ancient Origin: The name Ylang Ylang means "flower of flowers" in the local dialect. The best oil of all is obtained from flowers picked in early summer and early in the morning.Ylang Ylang has ancient traditions as do many essential oil and in Indonesia, the flowers were spread on the beds of newly married couples. In the Victorian age the oil was used to soothe insect bites and as a hair treatment A tall tropical tree which grows up to 20 meters high, with large, tender fragrant flowers. Strangely the flowers can be (on the same tree) yellow, pink or mauve, but only the yellow flowers are considered good enough for the extraction of oil.

Source: Native to tropical Asia, especially Indonesia and the Philippines the major oil producers are Madagascar, Reunion and the Comoro Islands

Skin Care: It is widely used in perfumery and cosmetics and is suitable for both oily and dry skin as it has a balancing action on the secretion of sebum. It is thought to have a tonic effect on the hair.

Circulation muscles and joints: Perhaps its most important physical property is its ability to slow down over-rapid breathing and over-rapid heartbeat. These symptoms may occur when someone is shocked, frightened or anxious. It can also be helpful in treating high blood pressure.

Nervous System: Like Jasmine, Rose and Sandalwood Ylang Ylang is anti-depressant and sedative as well as being known for its aphrodisiac qualities. It can help people with sexual difficulties especially when connected with stress and anxiety. It has a calming and relaxing effect which can be used to break the circle of sexual inadequacy.

Mixing Oils: Although it is a very intriguing oil in its own right it also blends well rosewood, jasmine, vetivert, bergamot and rose.

WARNING: Take care when using this oil as too high a concentration or using it for too long a time can give rise to nausea and/or headache.
