The best oil of all is obtained from flowers picked in early summer and early in the morning.Ylang Ylang has ancient traditions as do many essential oil and in Indonesia, the flowers were spread on the beds of newly married couples. In the Victorian age the oil was used to soothe insect bites and as a hair treatment A tall tropical tree which grows up to 20 meters high, with large, tender fragrant flowers. Strangely the flowers can be (on the same tree) yellow, pink or mauve, but only the yellow flowers are considered good enough for the extraction of oil.
