Origin: One of of the earliest medicinal plants in Western herbal medicine its main areas of application are respiratory and digestive complaints.
Source: Thyme is native to Spain and the Mediterranean region and is now found throughout Asia Minor, Algeria, Turkey, Tunisia, Israel the USA, Russia, China and central Europe
Genito-urinary System: Thyme can help infections of the bladder such as cytisitis and urethritis
Skin Care: It is sometimes used for hair rinses, aromatic waters for the skin and in compresses for sores and wounds. It can be used as an antiseptic for the skin and in a hot compress to ease the pains of rheumatism. It is also good for insect bites and stings
Respiratory System: Thyme is good for treating colds, coughs and sore throats and it is an excellent pulmonary disinfectant useful for all respiratory infections. It can be used as an inhalation for nose, throat and chest infections and can help with mouth and gum infections when used as a gargle
Nervous System: One of the best uses for Thyme is in all forms of infection because it strengthens the bodies resistance to invading organisms. It can help in a bath against insomnia and is reputed to strengthen the memory and stimulate the brain
Mixing Oils: It blends well with rosemary, bergamot, lavender, marjoram, pine and lemon
