Origin: This has been long valued as a culinary herb throughout the world. However it was used by the ancient Greeks as a restorative and to scent their bath water.
Sources: Although it was originally native to the Mediterranean it is now common throughout Europe, western Asia and the Middle East. It was introduced to the USA where it became very popular. It is mainly produced in Midwest USA, Hungary, Spain, Russia, China and former Yugoslavia.
Skin Care: Can help acne, dermatitis and congested skin
Respiratory system: It has similar properties to those of peppermint oil but is less powerful and as such can be good for helping children's ailments such as asthma, bronchitis, catarrhal conditions and sinusitis
Nervous System: A good pep-me-up for the blues or fatigue, stress and nervous conditions. It also can help ease the pains of a headache when applied to forehead and temples and again is good for use on childrens heads
Digestive System: Is good for treating colic, dyspepsia, flatulence, hepatobiliary disorders, nausea and vomiting
Immune System: Treats colds, flu and fevers
Mixing Oils: It blends well with Jasmine, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Basil, Rosemary and is often used in conjunction with Peppermint.
