Origin: Petitgrain is obtained from the bitterest of the orange tree family from which Neroli oil is also obtained so there is some resemblance between these two oils. However Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves and sometimes the tiny tips of the young twigs although in earlier centuries it was extracted from unripe oranges, which were collected when they were still green and very small. This is where the name of "Petit" grain comes from.

Sources: Petitgrain can be found in many of the Mediterranean countries as well as Paraguay. It is produced in Southern China, North-east India, North Africa and France

Nervous system: Petitgrain is often helpful for sleeplessness especially if it is caused by loneliness or unhappiness. It is excellent in helping to combat the effects of depression, fatigue and generally low energy and run down feelings

Skin Care: It is a good oil to help combat acne and oiliness and makes an effective antiseptic. It can be used to treat greasy hair and oily dandruff

Mixing oils:As well as most of the citrus family it combines well with the other oils in its family such as Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Orange, Mandarin and Neroli. It also blends well with Lavender for relaxing properties or with Rosemary for that wake up feeling.
