You are in: aromatherapy essential oils orange essential oil - citrus sinensis (10ml)
Origin: The orange tree was originally a native of the Far East, particularly China and India. It was considered to be both rare and expensive and it is quite probable that the legendary golden apples in the Garden of the Hesperides were in fact, oranges. The properties of orange overlap to a great extent with those of Neroli (derived from the orange blossom) and it can be used for antidepressant, or antispasmodic purposes. The essential oil is extracted by pressure from the outer parts of the peel and often both bitter and sweet oranges are used in this process
Source: Orange oil is now obtained from a variety of different sources including the Mediterranean, California, Israel and South America
Immune System: Orange can be used to help combat the symptoms of cold and flu
Skin care: Orange when diluted in Evening Primrose base oil can act as a livening agent for dull and oily complexions and when mixed with equal amounts of lemon and diluted is useful to treat mouth ulcers
Nervous system: It can be used as an alternative to Lavender to aid insomnia and can be used very effectively to combat nervous tension and stress related conditions
Digestive system: This oil can help with constipation, spasm and seems to have a normalising effect on the action of the intestines
Mixing Oils: Orange blends well with Lavender, Neroli, Lemon, Clary Sage and Myrrh and can be used to good effect with spice oils such as Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Clove
