Sources: Melissa is native to the Mediterranean region but is now found through Europe, Middle Asia, North America, North Africa and Siberia.It is cultivated mainly in Hungary, Egypt and Italy but the main producer is the Republic of Ireland

Genito-urinary system: Melissa can have a calming and regulating effect on the menstrual cycle and can help to regularise the pattern of ovulation where it is erratic.

Skin Care: It can help with allergies, insect bites and in very low concentration can help to treat eczema and other skin problems.

Respiratory system: Asthma and coughs can be relieved by the inhalation of Melissa although asthmatics should avoid steam inhalations.

Nervous System: Melissa can help to lower high blood pressure and has a calming effect on over rapid breathing and heartbeat which make it very helpful when people are in shock. It can help with anxiety, depression, hypertension, insomnia, nervous tension and can be a wonderful aid to assist people who have been bereaved through sudden illness or accident

Mixing Oils: It blends well with Lavender, Geranium and other floral or citrus oils
