Origin: There are about 300 varieties of Eucalyptus. Most of the essential oil originates in Australia in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Recent research has confirmed the oils pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, and its ability to reduce swelling and accelerate healing.
Source: The oil is native to Tasmania and Australia. It is now cultivated in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, California and China. Little of this oil now comes from its native countries
Skin Care: Pure Eucalyptus has wonderful antiseptic and healing properties and the Australian aborigines used to bind wounds with cloths soaked in Eucalyptus. It can help with burns, blisters, and skin infections; it combines well with Bergamot to treat cold sores or genital herpes.It can help as a painkiller for conditions such as shingles
Circulation, muscles and joints: When Eucalyptus essential oil is diluted in a base oil to be used for massage it can help to relieve the pain of rheumatism, muscular aches, poor circulation and fibrositis. It can also assist in sports injuries and sprains
Respiratory system: Probably its best known affect is as a decongestant inhalation for colds and coughs. It has a very powerful anti bacterial and anti-viral action. When diluted eucalyptus oil can be used as a chest rub and is great in relieving the symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, sinusitis and throat infections. Use it as an air spray and it will give good protection from flu and infectious childhood illnesses
Immune System: In epidemic and infectious illnesses the use of a diluted eucalyptus air spray or other vaporisation is said not only to help the sufferer but also protects the people coming into contact with them In feverish conditions such as scarlet fever, chickenpox and measles the patients temperature can be lowered by applying diluted eucalyptus essential oil to the skin
General: It is a good oil for repelling mosquitoes or other insects. A few drops of the pure oil added to your pet shampoo will remove fleas or if you get tar on your clothes it is a good and harmless way of removing it
Mixing Oils: It blends well with Rosemary, Lavender, Marjoram, Pine, Cedarwood and Lemon.
