Origin: Cinnamon has been used for thousands of years in the East for a variety of complaints. IThe oil is produced by a tropical evergreen tree which grows up to 15 metres high with strong branches and thick bark and has shiny green, leathery leaves with small white flowers.
Source: The cinnamon tree is native to Madagascar and parts of South East Asia and is also cultivated in Jamaica and parts of Africa.
Skin Care: It can be used for lice, scabies, warts, wasp stings and for tooth and gum care. Use only a small amount of the oil diluted in base oil or water.
Circulation, muscles and joints: Because of its warming qualities it can be very useful as a massage for poor circulation, aches and rheumatism.
Digestive System: Cinnamon is antispasmodic and helps with many digestive factors including stomach cramps, sluggish digestion, flatulence, nausea and diarrhoea.
Immune System: As it has warming qualities it is very helpful to relieve the aches and chilling in the early stages of colds and flu and the feeling of debility that often remains. It is helpful for convalescing after any illness.
Genito-urinary System: It can be helpful with menstrual cramps especially if mixed with Clary Sage and can be used for scanty and painful periods.
Mixing Oils: It mixes well with Ylang Ylang, orange, mandarin and benzoin.
WARNING: Do not purchase Cinnamon bark for use on the skin. Care must be taken if using this oil on elderly people. Never use during pregnancy. Use in small quantities.
