Oily Skin
Oily Skin occurs when the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. The pores of the skin are often clogged and therefore have a tendency to form spots, blackheads and even acne. Areas particularly affected are the nose, chin and forehead. Oily skin is common during puberty as hormonal changes occur in the body.
Facial steam baths and compresses are recommended for oily skin. A facial steam bath will cleanse the pores effectively and help to flush out the toxic substances. Essential oils can help these problems by reducing the amount of sebum which the skin produces as well as indirectly helping to control the bacteria which thrive on the surface of oily skin.
Essential oils for oily skin are: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Palmarosa, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang
RECIPE 1:
- 3 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
- 4 drops Cypress Essential Oil
- 3 drops Juniper Essential Oil
- 30ml Sweet Almond Carrier Oil
- Mix together all the ingredients in a bottle and apply to the skin.
RECIPE 2:
- 3 drops Geranium Essential Oil
- 2 drops Lemon Essential Oil
- 3 drops Palmarosa Essential Oil
- 2 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
- 30ml Evening Primrose Carrier Oil
- Mix together all the ingredients in a bottle and apply to the skin.
RECIPE 3:
- 2 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 3 drops Cypress Essential Oil
- 2 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- 3 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
- 30ml Sweet Almond Carrier Oil
- Mix together all the ingredients in a bottle and apply to the skin.
RECIPE 4:
- 3 drops Geranium Essential Oil
- 3 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
- 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 30ml Evening Primrose Carrier Oil
- Mix together all the ingredients in a bottle and apply to the skin.
RECIPE 5:
- 2 drops Cypress Essential Oil
- 2 drops Lemon Essential Oil
- 2 drops Juniper
- 1-2 pints warm water.
- Place the essential oils in a bowl with the water. Bend your head over the bowl and cover your head with a towel. Steam your face for approx 10 minutes.
RECIPE 6:
- 2 drops Geranium Essential Oil
- 2 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
- 2 drops Rosemary
- 1-2 pints warm water.
- Place the essential oils in a bowl with the water. Bend your head over the bowl and cover your head with a towel. Steam your face for approx 10 minutes.
RECIPE 7:
- 2 tablespoons Clay/Fullers Earth
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Pulp
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 drop Cypress Essential Oil
- 1 drop Juniper Essential Oil
- Mix the ingredients together to form a paste. Apply to the face avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave the mask on until completely dry. Carefully wash it off using a warm, damp flannel. Give yourself a face mask once a week.
