Description
Ancient Origin: Where Rose is known as the Queen of oils Jasmine is considered as the King of all oils and like Rose Jasmine is very expensive as it takes an enormous quantity of flowers to produce a relatively small amount of oil. In the case of Jasmine the flowers have to be gathered at night also increasing the labour costs. Many of the qualities of these two oils overlap and it is much associated with warming properties as well as the emotional and sexual areas.

Source: Jasmine is native to China, northern India and western Asia. A concrete is first produced from the plant by solvent extraction, then an absolute is obtained from this by separation with alcohol, finally the oil is produced by steam distillation of the absolute. This process is mainly carried out in Italy, France, Morocco, Egypt, China, Japan, Algeria and Turkey. The main absolute oil is produced near Grasse in France.

Skin Care: Jasmine is a lovely oil to use in skin care but is best when used in small proportions. It is especially good for dry, irritated skins but can also help to combat oiliness.

Circulation muscles and joints: With its warming properties it is good for muscular spasm and sprains. It has a gentle and deeply penetrating effect which makes it excellent for massage . It can be used to good effect for hard and contracted limbs.

Respiratory system: Jasmine is a good remedy for coughs especially when linked with catarrh as well as chest infections and loss of voice.

Genito-Urinary System: It is useful for menstrual pain and cramps and is very helpful in childbirth. When massaged into the lower back and abdomen areas during labour it can both relieve pain and help to strengthen contractions. It can also help with male problems and can strengthen the male sexual organs. It is said to have aphrodisiac qualities but as it acts on the mental and emotional levels as well as the physical it can help in areas where sexual problems stem from tension.

Nervous System: The actions of this oil on the emotional plane are probably unparalleled by any other essential oil. It is a powerful anti depressant and can combat tension, anxiety, fear, nervous exhaustion or indeed any stress related illness. It produces a feeling of optimism and confidence so can help in areas where there is apathy, indifference or listlessness.

Mixing Oils: It blends well with Rose, Sandalwood, Clary Sage and all citrus oils. It has the ability to round off rough notes and blend with virtually anything.
