Calmness is a mental state wherein the mind is not turbulent, but open and reflective. No emotions are agitating the mind and no insistent train of thought is disturbing the mind.
Calmness can most easily occur for the average person during a state of relaxation, but it can also be found during much more alert and aware states. Some people find that focusing the mind on something external, or even internal, such as breathing, can be very calming. Calmness is a quality that can be cultivated and increased with practice. It usually takes a trained mind to stay calm in the face of a great deal of stimulation and distractions, especially if the causes are emotional ones. Negative emotions are the greatest challenge to someone who is attempting to cultivate a calm mind.
Helpful disciplines in promoting and developing more pervasive calmness include: yoga, relaxation training, breath training, various kinds of meditation practice and aromatherapy massage. The oils in the Calm Head blend all have a variety of contributions. The overriding property of Melissa is that it is soothing to the body and the mind whilst uplifting the spirits. Cypress has a pleasant woody scent and is described as being helpful to calm the spirit especially during life’s changing circumstances. Cedarwood is reputed to be beneficial for all states of nervous tension, instilling peace and tranquility as well as contributing wonderful warm fragrance. Regent House makes no medicinal claims for this blend of oil and it is important to read the warning before use. This product can be used diluted as a massage oil or neat in the bath. It is especially valuable during times of tension to be burned in an oil burner.
Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile liquid plant material, known as essential oils and other scented compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood or health.
