Versatile and with a range of properties lavender is invaluable in so many areas. Keep it in the kitchen and use it for burns. You will not believe the difference when you use Lavender oil on a burn than any other remedy.  Try Lavender for sleep disorders or headaches and if these are caused by stress or depression then Lavender can help to relax and relieve. Lavender oil has antibiotic and antiseptic properties and so can be used for colds, coughs, catarrh and sinusitis. Lavender oil has sedative qualities and can help to relieve the symptoms and aid sleep during flu and colds. One of its most important uses is in the area of muscular pain including arthritis & rheumatism where it can help to reduce inflammation. For infants Lavender is the oil to keep in your cupboard. Use it for colic, childhood infections or if your child us unsettled. Place a drop or two in a baby’s bath to help with a good night’s sleep.

For many emotional problems Lavender oil can be helpful. Try it for depression, mania, hysteria or moodiness.

Lavender can also be used for a number of skin conditions and is especially helpful for acne or skin infections. Try it also for eczema combined with Chamomile or Melissa.

During labour Lavender can be lovely when massaged onto the lower back or used in compresses. It can also help with period pains or irregular period problems.

Lavender blends wonderfully with many other oils especially the flower oils such as Geranium or with citrus oils such as Lemon or Orange. Lavender is one of the few essential oils which can be used directly onto the skin.
